Medevac - from the village to Australia! written by Jacob

The whole point of the trip was to get the roof on and gutters up so that we could catch rainwater and collect it in the tank for the missionaries. On the last day, we were working on the gutters when I stepped on a slippery spot and fell off the roof.
It was a long way down! I blacked out and couldn't move my leg. The guys were relieved when I woke up on my own. They put me on a piece of plywood and moved me under the house. They also gave a me a mosquito net which was nice.

It was a long night....waiting for the helicopter to come take me out!

...but the morning finally came and it was beautiful... and this morning was long awaited!

The sight and sound of the helicopter coming in for me was a beautiful thing!!

Ready to fly! So thankful for the doctor and nurse and pilot who flew in to take me out!

I made it to the NTM Centre where the Clinic is located. The doctors checked me for all possible injuries and did an x-ray on my leg. Broken femur.

After the doctors checked me over and decided I needed a medevac to Australia, they flew me by helicopter to the airport... here I am being transferred from the helicopter to the airplane.

Heading to Australia on NTM's Kodiak with Doctor Kevin and Nurse Keri and my family! A four hour flight!

In Australia the Ambulance met the plane to take me to the hospital.

The night I arrived at the hospital... I couldn't eat or drink anything because they were going to do surgery on me soon. So I was only allowed to suck on a water soaked sponge.

Waiting for surgery which happened the day after I arrived.

My family came to visit me just after surgery, which I don't even remember... I had so many drugs and I was still waking up from surgery. They put a rod, a few screws and a couple cables in my leg to hold it together while it healed.
