The Nashville Zoo

Our first giraffe sighting at the Nashville Zoo! We spent the morning there before heading out to Kentucky!

Jonathan's first merry go round experience. He wasn't quite sure what to think. :)

We've never seen a cassowary in PNG but we have now seen one in Nashville!

We've never seen a kangaroo in Australia but we have now seen one in Nashville!

Jonathan's first little kids train ride experience, which he loved!

"Mommy, why are all the birds standing on one foot?" Hmm... good question Jonathan!

 Jonathan LOVED this slide!

We finished off the our family morning with lunch at IHOP! Yum!

A stop at the Opryland Hotel

We spent a day in Nashville TN and heard that we could take a walk through the Opryland hotel for free. Wow! What an amazing place!

 Waterfalls!

 A river and tour boat!

Water fountains and of course amazing places to stay!

Jonathan loved the water fountains, he laughed and laughed!

Lunch on the road

We stopped in Tenessee as we were traveling through to have lunch with Jack and Janie Housley and Dave and Wanda McKinney, good friends and supporters!

Jack running with Jonathan before we got back in the car to drive another few hours, heading to Nashville, TN for a family day!

Islands of PNG to Jonesborough, TN!

I had a great time catching up with my good friend Sarah who was a missionary in PNG for 10 years! She and I hung out a lot when we were single. And it is so fun to hang out now that we are both married with a baby/toddler! Here is Sarah with her son, James!

Jonathan loved the race track!

Jonathan and James had a great time together!

A visit to Liberty University

Just as we arrived in Lynchburg, the Patriots started playing their last playoff game. Well, we didn't realize it was their last game, so sad. But Jonathan was quite happy to watch and yell and cheer!
Visiting our friend in Lynchburg that we worked with at Interface in 2010-2011!

A play place at the Thomas Road Baptist Church, fun!

Hanging out with our friends from Liberty!

View from the Liberty Ski Hill, nice!

And now Heading into a HUGE Blizzard!

We originally planned our road trip south in January so we could drive into warm weather, this was not the case... we left PA knowing that we were driving right into a blizzard, so we were expecting to stay at a hotel before making it to our destination. Hmm... why is it that we are like a magnet to all the big snow storms?!

But we made it to our destination, Crozet, VA, to Big Jonathan's parent's house! Our Jonathan was quite excited when he woke up from his nap and big Jonathan was carrying him in to his house!

And Big Jonathan and family were excited to see us too, especially since Jacob could help shovel the three feet of snow that fell!

The patio furniture after the second day of snow. :)

Needless to say we didn't make it out of there when we planned.

But Jacob did find our car!

Jonathan did get to play in the snow!

But he didn't last long, when the snow touched his skin, he would say "too cold!"

Big and Little Jonathan fixing the shovel. :)

And our car was buried once again!

The Jonathans played together a lot! And we figured out that the reason our Jonathan puts his arms on his hips when walking into a room is because that is what Big Jonathan does. :) He learned it from him this past summer at Interface in Madang!

 Minecraft game is going!
