Ovens and Carpentry Training

Written by Jacob... teaching the guys some basic cabinetry skills.

Right now we are working on learning how to use just the table saw to cut up plywood and make simple boxes. It has been really fun to watch the guys learn the different ways to join and cut wood. I hope this gives them a great foundation to build on in the future.

After Raphael learned a lot in Jacob's classes, he was given the job to build a bathroom sink vanity.... and just finished it! He asked Jacob to help him along the way, as it was his first. But he was quite excited to finish! Jacob helped build a metal counter top to put on it too.

My latest puzzle... why does this mixer work in first and third gear but not second... hopefully someday I will figure out the answer to this mystery.

This is an old mixer that we bought to use in Interface back in 2008. It has been well used and made a
lot of food.

I think the first step will be to clean it up and maybe give it a fresh coat of paint. Maybe all it needs is some TLC? Keep checking into our blog to see if this mixer can be restored to its former glory!

Another Interface relic from the past is this convection over. Someone graciously donated some very expensive parts to fix this oven.

I was pretty nervous working with such expensive parts. Knowing that getting replacement parts will take many months, I was trying to be very careful with how I installed everything .

I was especially nervous hooking up this 110 volt 60 hertz motor to out 240 volt 50 hertz power grid. Thankfully, we have some really great tech guys here who were able to help me out.

The old fan sure did need to be replaced.

The new fan has been working beautifully. Thanks to the tech guys for all their expertise and help in installing it.

I always say, if an oven can't bake cookies, then it is worthless.

Although these rolls were pretty good too.
