Hanging out in the Black Forest with Friends

We got to the Black Forest of Germany and saw amazing views and got to hang out with Ben and his family. Ben was in PNG many years ago when Jacob was an intern at Interface, for a year.

Jacob enjoyed playing with their kids (who knew no English) and repeated all the German words that they used. :)

Heading out on a walk with Elgin through the black forest, to a barefoot park.

Barefoot park was quite the adventure!

There was lots of things to walk through to make our feet and body healthy... including mud. At least it was clean mud. :)

Glass wasn't as sharp as I thought.

Don't our feet look much healthier. :)

Elgin and her mom

Elgins parents. We enjoyed some German harmonica music after a great meal!

The German Hardware store, Jacob was very excited!

They even delivered to Ben's house, getting ready to put on the porch on the side of his house.

German barbecue, delicious!

On to Gummersbach

It was really good to see Axel and Sandra and their kids Lilli and Tom and meet their friends.

Nothing like a game of pound the nail with a piece of pipe. Really develops good skills with a hammer!

Tom and Jonathan were best buddies in PNG. Tom's family served in PNG for many years and just returned to Germany last year. It was great to see them!

German dinner is always yummy with so many choices and yummy breads!

PNG co-workers gathering, fun times! Good stories!

Ready to head to our next destination via Germany train.

Visiting Friends in Detmold, Germany

We were excited to head out on our first adventure from PNG, to visit friends in Germany! We planned a trip to Germany on our way home in Dec 2020, but Covid wouldn't let us go through Germany.

A layover in Singapore

Meeting friends, Detlef and Natalie, in Frankfurt airport. Detlef was in PNG for a couple months many years ago.

A friend drove us to Detmold for a couple days to visit friends who we had met in PNG many years ago! They said that this Air B&B was free to missionaries. Beautiful place!

It was great to see Markus and his family again, meeting his children for the first time! Markus was in PNG for a year many years ago when Jacob was an intern at Interface.

Herman the German is a cool historic site that we wanted to show the kids.

We were thankful to see Willi and Helene and their kids again too! Willi was in PNG twice, once for 1 year and once for two years. Helene even came to visit for a few weeks too!

Arrival in the Capital of PNG

We are so thankful for a few days of rest at a friends place in the capital of PNG before we travel to Germany to visit friends and head back to the US and Canada for our 1 year home assignment.

We also needed to have some x-rays of Jonathan's teeth in preparation for him to get braces while we are in North America for Home Assignment.

Awaiting the dentist appointment.
