Our visit in Karlsruhe...

We stayed with Till and Josephine in Karlsruhe. Till was also an Intern at Interface in 2011 and recently married Josephine. It was fun to see them! While we were there Chris and Rich, Intern Alumni from 2008, stopped in for a visit. Lots of fun times!

Notice that everyone else is not cold, yet we are wearing our jackets... still adjusting from our beautiful PNG weather!

Jan, Intern Alumni from 2010, also stopped in for a visit!

And Till cooked up an amazing dinner with the help of Josephine of course!

Short visit to Tubingen

We also were able to visit Matthias and Veronika who took us to a town not far from them called Tubingen.

This is the University of Tubingen, an old castle.

Matthias and Veronika... now have 2 1/2 children. :)

Freudenstadt visit...

While we were staying with Till and Josephine we took a day trip to visit Elgin and her parents near Freudenstadt. Mike, Intern Alumni from 2008, was able to stop in and visit us there too. More good times and great food!

Stuttgart, Germany...

We met Marco, Intern Alumni from this year, and his family in Stuttgart. And they took us to the Ritter Sport Chocolate museum. Everything looked so yummy! Notice that the traveling was getting to me, I was always tired.... but it was a great time with everyone!

A whole meter of chocolate bars!

Jonny, another Intern Alumni from this year, met us and took us around downtown Stuttgart. Here we are sitting on the grass enjoying a bratwurst.

As we were walking around, a bachelor party drove by... very different culture. :)

We also got to see Diemo there too, he took the train and met us in Stuttgart!

Jacob, Diemo, Marco and Jonny at the train station.

We went to the Mercedes Benz museum in Stuttgart with a few of the Intern Alumni, very interesting place! This is the first vehicle made with a motor.

Simon and his wife met us there and took the tour with us.

Some of the first engines ever made.

Some very large wrenches needed to fix the old cars.

This was called the Pope mobile made especially for the Pope. :)

 Jacob's favorite part!

Afterwards we had another amazing German meal with Jonny, Jonas and Diemo.
Just outside the restaurant we noticed an odd looking security vehicle. We hope its not in too many high speed chases!

Us, at another train station. :)

Giessen, Germany

My parents lived in Giessen, Germany when I was born. And I was actually born nearby in Frankfurt. So we had to go to Giessen to see where they used to live. This is an old monastery close to Giessen, now a restaurant. The day we stopped in, there was a live band playing and lots of people were gathered enjoying the old German folk music.

One of the streets of a small town where my parents lived.

My mom said that I should stop by and see the hospital where she used to work. But it was so huge, we had no idea which building she used to work in.

So eventually we found the main building and just took a picture of that. :)

Cake and fruit with Simon, his wife and parents in Giessen.

Our final trip home!

And then we were off... Frankfurt to Montreal and then Montreal to Halifax to visit Jacob's parents!

At home in Doctor's Cove with Jacob's parents eating Salmon. Yum! We really missed eating fish in Papua New Guinea!

And Jacob was happy to have some ice cream from his favorite place, Dan's Ice Cream Shoppe!

Summer 2012 at Interface!

Our Interface students arrived on June 9th! Top row: Matt, Anna, Marco, Jonny, Joel, Elaine, Diemo
Bottom row: Meredith, Olivia, Brittany, Lindsey, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Abigail, Molly, Irene, Jessica, Kelsey
They are all learning lots! We enjoy serving them each day and always look forward to hearing all that God is teaching them!

All of us who are helping in the kitchen or with security are pictured above.
Top row: Micah, Levi, Josh, Duane, Phil and Jacob
Bottom row: Ashlyn, Cherie, Cindy, Lena and me
We are happy that Phil can come out to help for a couple days a week. He and Jacob were roommates in the NTM training in 2007/2008. Phil returned as a full time missionary a few months ago. He is busy taking trips into bush locations during surveys. But it is fun that he can come out to help!

Our New Interface Sign!

Robin, a missionary at the NTM Center, did a great job carving and painting our sign!

And the guys did a great job putting it up, just before the students arrived!!
