Arrival in the Capital of PNG

We are so thankful for a few days of rest at a friends place in the capital of PNG before we travel to Germany to visit friends and head back to the US and Canada for our 1 year home assignment.

We also needed to have some x-rays of Jonathan's teeth in preparation for him to get braces while we are in North America for Home Assignment.

Awaiting the dentist appointment.

Goodbye to Friends... waiting for the airplane...

Jonathan and Aaron are the best of friends! They will miss each other lots! Sad though, when we return Aaron and his family will be going on their home assignment after Aaron's older brother graduates from high school. Appreciate prayers for these two guys!

Naomi will miss her good friends too! Nathan and Tara

Jonathan, Aaron and Josh are the best of friends. Josh also went on a 6 month home assignment with his family.

Waiting for the airplane to arrive...

Jacobs late grandmother, "Nannie Jane" was a firm believer in the wonderful game of checkers. She trained Jacob to play the game and got to play a few games with Jonathan before she died. Jacob used the time waiting for the airplane to pass on the "Nannie Jane wisdom" to Jonathan with the same methods he learned- learn by losing! And it worked, eventually Jonathan started beating Jacob!

And the plane was only 1 hour late!

Arrived in the capital of PNG, our first leg of our journey.

Handing over the Guesthouse - last jobs...

Dan and Marty came to PNG for 6 months to manage the Guesthouse while we are away on Home Assignment.

Working on the last little details before heading out for a year, securing cargo in the golf cart for going and coming up and down the hill.

The first load heading down to storage, packing up our house before we leave for a year.

How did Jonathan get taller than Kiso!?

Learning the billing, booking and all the other computer work!

We had a fun celebration for a HUGE event. After 20 years, Chad Mankins finished checking last portions of the New Testament in the tribal language where he is working!

Hanging out with a few guests at the guesthouse for coffee and dessert.

Jonathan got to take Pidgin English class this year and had many opportunities to learn what the PNG people do... shoot bow and arrows, plant gardens, go for walks, etc.

Jonathan completed his Math 7 course online at the Guesthouse. Quite the accomplishment since the guesthouse is full of changes and activity every day! Way to stay focused Jonathan!
