Going places... and Dogs

Off to School... a quick 3 minute walk down the hill...

Heading off to play roller hockey! Fun! Also a quick 3 minute walk down the hill to the gym.

Mastiff Rottweiler dogs that Jacob is training for two different NTM centres around the field of PNG.

Introducing the dogs to others is part of the training.

Our yard... first thing in the morning... although most times, it is filled with kids playing or dogs being trained!

One dog has gone to Wewak and is doing a good job there as a security dog.

Now Jacob is awaiting a flight to the capital city of PNG and he will send this dog to our friend Nate to help him at the centre.

Jacob was not going many places very fast for the last month or so... until he got his four wheeler apart and put in the correct parts to fix the problem.

Now it is up and running and his work is going along much faster now... he can get his tools and parts from place to place a lot faster!

Learning is fun... so many things to learn!

Live Book Report by Grade One, "Wombat goes Walkabout" by Michael Morpung

100 days of 1st grade completed!

Color day... 5th grade is green.... 6th grade is black... :)

Book Character Dress up day!

Reading festival assembly - Jonathan's class reached their goal! Jonathan read 38 hours in 2 weeks! Go Jonathan! Each popcorn kernel represented an hour of reading.

Naomi's class also reached their goal in minutes for the 2 week reading festival! And Naomi read the most in her class! She is now an excellent reader! We are proud of her! Each cent represented a minute read.

Jonathan was given 2 monarch caterpillars by his friend. He took care of them, feeding them milk weed and changing the paper towel in their cage. Then he watched them form chrysalises and they became butterflies! Very cool to see!

Then he put them very carefully, without touching them, on a plant outside so their wings could dry and then they flew away after a few hours.

Jacob and Jonathan have started a Tang Soo Do class. There is a missionary in town who holds a class for young kids every Monday and Wednesday afternoons. They are having a great time with it!

Guesthouse Ministry, Cooking and Grilling and Admin work

Jacob has fun grilling burgers and pork steaks for our guests each week. Now he has help. :)

Rumbi works at the guesthouse with us. But once every few weeks she is called upon to make tortillas for the store. She sells them as another part of her income. She can make 20 dozen tortillas in an 8 hour day! It is amazing!

Rumbi, Fiona and Georgie - I'm so thankful that we can work together with them as a team at the guesthouse!

And for a few months we have Nicole joining us on our guesthouse team for a few hours each week. She is a senior and high school and she is doing a work study with us at the guesthouse. She has been a huge help!

And here is where I organize the menus, bookings, billings and to do lists.

Kiso, our guesthouse driver.... he is very dependable and we are so thankful to have him. He does all our airport runs to town and back as well as shopping runs for ladies who aren't able to drive here.

One most important thing... Water... we need Water to run the guesthouse... cooking, drinking, bathing, flushing toilets, etc.... and so we are thankful that Jacob is able to monitor the water system on centre. Even our guests help him out with their expertise.

Good Food!

I make granola bars for our family for snack. It is great for a quick snack for the kids to take to school.

Once in awhile we get a treat from America!

For Christmas my mom sent me money for a new toaster oven. The one on the left I bought in 2005 when I first met Jacob, so it was fun to buy a new one... the glass is so clean, I can see Naomi's face in it. :)

Banana Blueberry bread and banana muffins for snacks! Yum!

A little Valentines cake and ice cream. :)

Our store just got a food container from America! First one since Oct last year! We are excited!

Happy 11th Birthday Jonathan!

Wow! I can't believe he is now 11 years old! Time has been flying by! And we are so proud of how God is forming and shaping him as he learns each year!

Friend party time!

Stromboli for lunch - party time!

I found a new recipe for the most delicious GF cake, dairy free, sweetened with coconut sugar... AND a white frosting, base of cashew! :)

Almost everyone didn't realize it was a healthy cake. :)
