Jacob taught the guys how to install cabinet doors with hidden hinges.
Also, they started working on countertops. Here they are experimenting with putting inset sinks in. Since mold grows so quickly in this environment, standing water is a mold attraction in wet areas.
They make the countertops down at the workshop. The guys have enjoyed learning different finishing techniques.
To practice for missionaries houses, we made some countertops for the bathrooms at the workshop.
They turned out pretty good. After the workers walk to work through coffee gardens and fording a river, the guys appreciate a hot shower, and indoor plumbing! So small bathroom vanity was also a welcome addition.
Workshop cleanup day can get a little crazy! One of the first things I learned in cabinet school was to not stand on the table saw. At the time I thought it was a funny joke. However, on this day Ganino and I both saw the wisdom of this advice as we tried to sweep and clean the area around the saw without stepping on it.
Lapilo Center Operations fire safety day. We all learned how to operate fire safety equipment and how to respond in emergencies. A very good thing to know!
