How to Pray and Give to Help the Devines on Home Assignment 2016

Home Assignment - November 2015- February 2017

Oct 25, 2015 -

We are very encouraged and happy to look back and see how God has taken us through the last 2 1/2 years here in Wewak. So much has happened and we can't believe 2 1/2 years has already gone by! God has taught us so much! And we are excited to head home in just 2 weeks to see family and friends and enjoy civilization again!! Here are a few things that you can pray for:
- Travel around the world, especially with a 2 1/2 year old!
- Adjustments to our home countries
- Opportunity to rest and heal from some crazy things that have happened in the last year
- Finances for living at home, car expenses and increased insurance prices
- Many opportunities to share our ministries while home
- Apartment to rent while living in MA
If you would like to help with these needs please email us: or see our Financial Support page.
Also, if anyone would like us to share at their church, small group, Sunday school class or just get together and hang out... just drop us a line and let us know! We are exciting to see everyone once again!
January 15, 2016 -
Thank you for praying! We enjoyed a fun trip around the world visiting friends. And we thoroughly enjoyed Christmas with both of our families! God has already given us an opportunity to share at Weston Christian Fellowship in Nova Scotia! And more opportunities to share continue to come our way!
We look forward to heading out on a long road trip to visit many friends, family and supporters on Monday, January 18th. Please pray for safety in travel as well as opportunities to share what God is doing in the Sepik of Papua New Guinea as we travel to PA, VA, TN, KY, MO, IN, MI and on to Ontario and back to Nova Scotia. We will be at the NTM of Canada headquarters for 3 weeks in March and return to Nova Scotia to settle down at the end of March.
May 12, 2016 -
God has taken us on a whirlwind trip around North America visiting friends, churches, family and supporters. We have really enjoyed it! So good to see so many people that we haven't seen in a long time! And God has been teaching us so much along the way... God enabled us to have many debriefs of our time in PNG in Ontario with our NTM missionaries and leadership as well as the Missionary Health Institute. God continues to build on each new thing that he reveals to us and we are excited! We have had time here in Nova Scotia to process and take in the last few months of travels and conversations and so many other things!
And now we are excited that God is blessing us with another child, due Oct 27th! Thank you for your prayers! We head to the US in a week to visit family, speak at a church and start prenatal care in MA where I will deliver the baby! We will be there for three weeks before heading back here on June 16th. We will be here until the end of August. Then we will move back to MA where we will have the baby and stay until we head back to PNG in January or February 2017. Please pray with us... we need an apartment to live in while in MA starting Sept 1st. Thanks for all your prayers!
God continues to drop opportunities to share about PNG in our laps. And He is raising our support level!
August 14, 2016 - We had a wonderful trip to the US where we were able to surprise my mom and grandmother with Surprise Birthday parties! My grandmother had the biggest surprise because her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren came to the party in western NY all the way from CA, IL, NC, MO, PA and MA! We haven't had so many of our family together in 20 years! It was quite fun to meet members of our family too! And for Jacob and Jonathan to meet them too!
God has given us many opportunities to share about Papua New Guinea here in Nova Scotia! It has been amazing to watch God drop these opportunities into our laps! And so neat to be able to make new friends and get to know the people here over the last 5 months! And Jacob has really enjoyed being home in Nova Scotia!
God has provided a beautiful home in the country of Richmond, MA for us to rent while in MA from Sept 2016 - January 2017. It is in the country, but just a 15 minute drive from my parents!
Here are a few praises and prayer requests for you:
-Good ultrasound results at 20 weeks and continued good reports from the doctor - now at 29 weeks!
-We are having a girl! Health baby so far!
- Enjoyable, profitable and restful time here in Nova Scotia
- Many friends, churches and family who have been such an encouragement to us over the last 8 months!
-Opportunities to share about Papua New Guinea at so many churches in Nova Scotia!
-Encouraging, safe and fun three week trip to the US in May/June!
-Opportunity to surprise my mom and grandmother with birthday parties while in the US!
-God is raising our support level!
-God's continued provision for our needs moment by moment!
-Provision of an SUV with 4 wheel drive for this coming winter in MA!
-A summer ferry runs from Nova Scotia to Maine which cuts out two days of driving and we can arrive in MA all in one day!
-Opportunity to visit my family for Labor Day Weekend in Western, NY!
- A home to live in while in Massachusetts in a quiet country neighborhood!
-David and Wendy Lee, have returned to work with the Bena People in Papua New Guinea, next door to Interface, where we used to work!
Prayer requests:
-Healthy baby and good pregnancy, strength and wisdom each day through the aches, pains and discomforts.
-Clarity of mind and speech as we share our ministries.
- Wisdom and strength in packing up our home here, and packing and sorting things to send to PNG.
-Safety in travel as we head to MA via car and ferry on August 31st (I will be 32 weeks pregnant)
-Safety in travel as we head to visit my family for Labor Day weekend.
-Safety in travel as we head to western PA to drop off our boxes to head to PNG via ship, after Labor Day.
-God's provision for full support before we return to PNG in Feb 2017.
-God would continue to raise up more missionaries to come to the Sepik and bring the Gospel to those who have never heard it in their own language.

Sept 2016 - We are in the middle of buying and packing to ship some boxes to Papua New Guinea via a container ship. This will take 4-5 months to arrive in Papua New Guinea! Please pray for us as we decide what needs to stay and what needs to go, especially in regards to buying home school materials for the first time! We are thankful that God has already provided some of the finances needed to cover the costs of the items we need, as well as some shipping costs. Please pray that God will provide the rest of the funds needed... here are some specific praise and prayer requests:
Praise - God provided a new washing machine!
Praise - God provided home school materials
Praise - God provided baby changing table and crib
Prayer - Funds for the cost of shipping to PNG
Prayer - Funds for 2-3 year supply of shampoo, shaving cream, socks, vitamins, etc.
Prayer - Funds for rocking chair
Prayer - Funds for four wheeler parts
Prayer - Funds for an air purifier (to help with mold and dust allergies)
Prayer - Funds for tickets to return to PNG in Feb.
Thank you for your continued interest, friendships, encouragement, prayers and support in so many ways! We look forward to meeting our new baby girl around Oct 27th and heading back to PNG to see what God has in store for us next!
Nov 21, 2016 -  Wow! God has done so much! We have now welcomed our little Naomi Cherylanne Devine into our family! We are so thankful to have her! God has answered so many prayers over the last couple of months...
-Wisdom as we packed up our house in Nova Scotia and moved to MA when I was 7 months pregnant!
-Settling into life in MA!
-Safe and quick delivery of Naomi!
-Naomi is gaining weight and looks very healthy!
-Provision of funds for an air purifier, rocking chair, four wheeler parts and supplies of shampoo etc for 2-3 years!
-Enjoying time in MA with family, friends and the beauty of fall and winter in the Berkshires!
We also want to tell you about a big concern in our lives right now which we want to ask for prayer for...
Prayer - We wanted to ask for your prayers as Naomi’s doctor has told us that due to her multiple birthmarks, called multiple congenital nevi, (especially on the head) she could have NCM (Neurocutaneous Melanocytosis) , a complication of multiple congenital nevi. The doctor said that in 80 % of NCM cases the child will live a normal life and in 20% of the cases the child can have side effects, like seizures. We would appreciate your prayers as we will be heading to Boston, MA so Naomi can see a Pediatric Neurologist. She has already had an MRI but due to lack of sedation the test was very hard to read correctly, so the MRI will probably be repeated in Boston by the Children’s Hospital.

And a few more prayer items:

Prayer - Adjusting to a family of four as we travel a bit to share at churches and continue to pack for Papua New Guinea

Prayer - Quick and smooth process as we apply for Naomi's passport, Canadian Citizenship and Papua New Guinea visa
Prayer - Funds for the cost of shipping to PNG
Prayer - Funds for tickets to return to PNG in Feb.
